13 hello winter.

11.09.2011

Well, fall lasted until November 9th this year.  That's actually pretty long to go without snow in the UP, so I'll take it.  Here's what our front yard looked like around 9:00 this morning.  No snow on the ground, a few leaves left on the trees.
Here's what it looked at around 1:30 this afternoon (still the front yard, just a different angle).
Thank goodness for peppermint mocha and chicken noodle soup!

I'm actually kind of excited that it's snowing outside, but I know I'll be sick of it as soon as I need to shovel off my windshield.  I'm embracing winter here today, listening to Christmas music, cuddled up on the couch, and baking the first batches of cookies with a few girlfriends tonight.

  1. Okay, now wait just one minute! We are not ready for winter just yet in the LP so please keep that icky white stuff up there. It's a sunny (but windy) day here in mid-Michigan and I'd like to keep it that way!

Brrrr....I'm all cold and bummed now knowing what we have to look forward to sooner rather than later.

    Stay warm!!!

  2. We missed this storm in MN and by the looks of it, I'm glad! Still sunny here! I'm holding out hope for a non-white Thanksgiving, but we'll see!

  3. You have more leaves than we do (Mt pleasant). The snow looks pretty but you can keep it. We will get ours soon enough.

  4. Now that sounds and looks like a perfect day to me. I miss my Wisconsin weather... well I miss it until about January, and then I am thankful to be in Missouri. Where in the UP are you? My family is in Marinette, WI.

  6. oh.my.word!!! That is really stunning! We've had very high temperatures here the past few days- 60s most of the time. Today though it is rainy and turning cold which is fine by me as I'm ready for winter and all of her lovely, snowy goodness. :)

PS- Forgive me, but where is the UP?

  7. I'm so jealous! I want snow! We probably won't get any until January, if we get any at all. :(

Enjoy! Sounds like you have a perfect day planned!

  9. ha ha ha! girl...you are reminding me why I live in the south! I had the opposite reaction to everyone else - I can't stand winter or the snow...which is why Texas is perfect for me. ha ha!

I would enjoy a snow day now and then though, just to be lazy. ;)

  10. That is crazy! I can't even imagine what that would be like- I'll take my breezy California santa ana winds today. Although it is pretty chilly for California and we are expecting rain this weekend.

True story- I was traveling for work in Washington once, and as my boss and I were getting into the rental car at the airport, I saw something on the front seat that I figured someone else had left behind so I chucked it into the back of the car. My boss got this horrified look on her face and said, "wait! we're going to need that!" I said, "what is it?" Her reply: Our ice scraper! I had never seen one before :)

  12. Ah, we will have snow here again soon. (some came and melted...what a tease) I think I'll have to join you with Christmas music, although my husband hates it! Must infect my daughters with the bug so we can overcome his protests each year! Enjoy the snow & stay warm!
