17 new cowls.

1.08.2013

I'm not sure what it is about winter (the freezing temps, perhaps?), but I always want to sit on the couch under a blanket and knit!  It's just so cozy.  I finished up two knitting projects in the past week.  Two new cowls!

I started this herringbone cowl last winter, and took a lot of breaks during the process.  The stitch required a lot of attention from me, so I would get tired of it after only a row or two.
Aren't those herringbone stitches pretty?  I love the texture!!
It's definitely not perfect, but you can't really tell much when it's on.
Next, another honey cowl!  I've made several of these in the past, it's a quick and easy project!  I started this one on my last trip to Boston, and almost finished it between the plane rides there and back and a couple nights of knitting in my hotel room.
I think I'll be giving this one away since I already have one of my own.
I used Cascade Yarns Lana D'Aro for both of these, in Magenta and Hare.
I see more knitting in my future... I'm headed back to the yarn store tonight!  I think I'm going to try the Sophia cowl next!

  2. Beautiful...both of them! I love the colors, and I've not used that yarn before. I'll have to keep on the lookout for it. Love the Sophia cowl also...and free! Even better :)

  3. Seeing all of these wonderful cozy cowls lately makes me feel like pulling out the ole' knitting needles! It's been a long time since I've knitted anything, but I may just have to. Especially as I'm sitting here watching it snowing and blowing outside!

  6. I love the herringbone! The colors are great on both of those too! I've thought about learning how to knit, but I haven't quite gotten around to it yet. I keep tucking away knitting stuff on Pinterest just in case though. :)

  14. Perfect inspiration! I'm just about finished with a pair of mittens for 2013 Christmas giving. I thought i might knit another pair, but after seeing your cowls, i decided to knit the Sophia cowl for one of my grandchildren. That pattern is sweet... Cast on even # of stitches for ribbibg, make 1 & switch to seed stitch! Reverse to go back down to ribbing. There are lots of other stitches that come to mind i could use. Thanks much!

  16. love the herringbone, but it looks like too much work for me!

p.s. how do you get the border on the honey cowl to lay flat and not curl?! I like that look so much better.
