11 weekend sewing.

2.28.2011

Sorry for the silence last week, I keep getting sick! Maybe I'm allergic to Michigan? That would be sad.  Anyway, I feel much better now and was able to get some sewing done this weekend. This is a pillow for my friend Emily who is having a baby in a few weeks!
Her nursery is decorated around the Alexander Henry 2D zoo print, so I fussy cut a giraffe from the print for the focal point of the pillow. It's hard to tell in the pictures but I also hand quilted around the giraffe to make it stand out a bit more.
I quilted it in straight lines following the log cabin design of the pillow.
The 2D Zoo is framed with the wave print from Ty Pennington's Impressions, lime Kona, a blue shot cotton and some AH Heath.
I'm really happy with the way this turned out!  Hope you like it Emily!

  2. So cute :) I think she'll love it!

I knew Ty Pennington has a home decor line of fabrics (ordered a fabulous one last week!), but I didn't know he had quilting weight fabrics as well.

Sorry you keep getting sick. We're the same way around here. I can't wait for winter to be finished so I can actually leave the house again!

It must be the time of year, we all were sick around here several times, so don´t worry!

  6. Just a note to say I hope you're taking Vitamin D. Since I got my Vitamin D level tested and found I was low and then took D3 supplements to bring it up to optimal, I haven't been sick! Sometimes I will feel like I'm catching something and will dread what would typically become a long, drawn out cold that drags me down but now that never happens. The cold seems to go away before it even gets hold! And this after having cancer treatments that really compromised my immune system.

Anyway ... just saying ... just in case it's something you haven't considered. Having your Vitamin D levels at optimal is good for so many things, it's sure worth looking into if you haven't already.

Love the cushion! So bright and cheers!

  10. The pillow is so lovely! The combination of the fabrics is great and I love, as the other commenters, the idea of highlighting the giraffe with handquilting!
