ReplyDeleteEmbroidered items seem to be the favored items as gifts. I like to give pillows.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say it's a tie for best gifts I've ever given. I surprised my hubby with a telescope for his birthday one year which he loves and really wasn't expecting. The other would have to be a collage of pictures for my mom of her cat which had passed away that year.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower on Google Reader
ReplyDeleteI think the best gift I've ever given - I haven't given it yet. But I'm still making it. It involves embroidery floss! (I think the recipient reads this blog so I can't be too specific!)
ReplyDeleteI am a follower! Those fabric trays look adorable, going to check them out now.
ReplyDeleteThe small handmade gift I've given most often are catnip mice toys for my friends with cats. I even grow and dry the catnip myself!

ReplyDeleteI gave my husband a Mont Blanc pen for his 30th birthday, he was delighted and is still using it 8 years later! My go to gift at the moment is a zip pouch, quick and fun to make!
thanks for the giveaway

ReplyDeleteI think probably the most well received gifts I have given have been custom photo books. Everyone always loves them!
ReplyDeleteI like to make Valorie Wells zippy little wallets for quick gifts. I use my zippy wallet to hold loyalty cards.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute trays! Best gift given? I think a quilt I made for my son. He absolutely loved it and sleeps with it every night.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower too :)
ReplyDeleteI love to make mug rugs or zippered pouch as a gift to my friends :)
ReplyDeleteMy best gift I've ever given was a 17-day trip to Spain (to my mom). I just started sewing again this year, so I don't yet have a go-to handmade gift, but I'm making lots of travel accessories!

ReplyDeleteI'm a follower! And on my way over to check out the tutorial (thanks for sharing)!

ReplyDeleteThe best present I ever gave was a quilt to my husband's grandmother, who was on hospice at the time. I'll never forget the phone call I got from her to thank me for the gift.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I can't make everyone a quilt for Christmas... I do make quilted table runners for the ladies which are always treasured!! Thanks for the chance! I love the nesting trays - thanks for sharing in this blog hop... I'm looking for new ideas too!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower - thanks for a second entry to win this gorgeous bundle!!
ReplyDeleteOh this 12 Weeks of Christmas Sewing Projects will be such a HUGE help! Thanks for doing this all ya'll!
ReplyDeleteAnd gotta love Chicopee ~ I mean who doesn't, right?
I'm also a follower ~ an official Bijou Lovelie!
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics look beautiful and fun. My best gifts were always something handmade. One year I hemmed Christmas fabric and tied up the 4 corners like on a hobo stick and then filled it with unshelled pecans for my parents for Christmas one year (I live in the south and pecans are a staple). It was fun for all.
ReplyDeleteI would say the best gift I have ever given was my husbands weber grill for his 30th. He loves it and I get great food so it's a win win :)
ReplyDeleteI've made baby quilts for all of my cousin's babies. They aren't super fancy, but it's become a nice tradition.
the best gift i've ever given would have to be expierence gifts like a trip somewhere- like the one i gifted my husband for our anniversary this week!!
ReplyDeleteJillian
shedd840@gmail.com
Hmm, best gift given would be a queen size quilt to my sister for her 30th wed anniver.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course I've been following :-)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is the hardest to buy for, and I think I finally got it right last year. I put together a photo book with pictures of him with our kids, and a wooden keepsake box with a picture of him and his dad, who passed away last year. Thank you, Shutterfly!
ReplyDeleteThat Chicopee fabric would be for the gifts my kids love - pillowcases, quilts, loveys, pajamas, dresses. It's nice to have an appreciative audience for crafty stuff! I'm Emily at siren-song.com .
The best gifts I've ever given are handmade or baked by me... My Mom and MIL along with some aunts and cousins always appreciate those gifts and I love to see they use or display what I gave them :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Giveaway!
I follow you on Google reader
ReplyDeleteBest gift given was a quilt made by my sis. I think the best give I have ever given was a surfboard to my husband! Not homemade but he loves it! I love your blog btw!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty I love it! And it would make a fantastic quilt for me. No kids allowed.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm a folllllllower!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the process of making a queen-sized quilt for a friend of mine - I think that's going to be the largest gift I've ever given. I also gave a pair of handknit socks to another dear friend who wore them in her (outdoor and very chilly autumn) wedding.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm a follower in Google Reader!
ReplyDeleteI love to give hand-made gifts. Last year for Christmas I gave both my mother and father their own quilts. I thought that was fun.

ReplyDeleteI'm a follower. I think my best gift thus far given (that I made) was a star quilt in Tula Pink that was hand quilted. My mom got that one!
ReplyDeleteoh, and I'm a follower should have been a 2nd post. Oops.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I LOVE your blog. :D
ReplyDeleteNow, let's talk gifts...
Best gift I've ever given would be...hmmm...I'd say when I surprised my husband with a brand new computer. We were still dating at the time, and he was trying to finish his PhD on a craptastic ancient Mac that kept losing pages of his work. He was so surprised and grateful - he'd never had a new computer, only ever hand-me-downs so this was a super big deal, and helped him to finish his dissertation in no time!

Whew! I was thinking it's time to start getting my Christmas list together. Not sure how it's Oct. 1!
ReplyDeleteI gave my son an awesome batman quilt last Christmas. That was a hit. I think I'm going to make up some Jane Market Totes this year.
I guess that the best gift I have ever given is the first quilt that I made. It was special because it was for my cousin's new baby girl, Sydney. I hope she loves it as much as I loved making it! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I am also a follower of your lovely blog!
ReplyDeleteHey there! I think anything handmade is the best gift ever.

This might sound hokey but setting aside uninterrupted time is the gift I give to my friends ( along with a small handmade something) . It's so hard to find time to talk and drink a glass of wine together most of the year!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a "go-to" gift. It really depends on who the gift is for and what I think they'd like at that time. Awesome fabric!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteI made these bite-taken-out-of-them gingerbread men ornaments one christmas for all my friends and relatives... it was a big hit! It was a free tutorial online i found.
ReplyDeleteLove these fabrics! I made my sil a scrapbook of our family for the year (she lives far away and we don't get to see each other often) now she wants one everytime we see her!
ReplyDeletejennifercawthon@yahoo.com
The best gift I have ever given is a watch to my husband. He didn't wear a watch before I gave it to him but he can't go a day without it now. He constantly tells me how much he loves his watch!

ReplyDeletemy brother is *finally* getting a finished quilt this year so that will be awesome. he'll like it...or else!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift I have been given is a Christmas potholder.
ReplyDeleteI just gave a pretty awesome gift. My brother turns 30 this week and I got one little gift for every year. Some are little, but others are kind of big. They all have little reasons, like a spiderman video with the note saying "you are a superhero". Of course, gift number 30 is a quilt!

ReplyDeleteI love giving "baprons" to expectant mothers. They are easy to make, cost hardly anything, and are a fun gift. Plus babies look totally adorable in them!

ReplyDeleteI haven't received many gifts as an adult, so thinking back a bunch of years, I distinctly remember how excited I was to receive a Baby Christy for Christmas one year. I was probably about 7 years old. I was elated beyond words.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower! Thanks for the giveaway.
I am a happy follower and thanks for the lovely tutorial!
ReplyDeleteMy best gifts are quilts, but I only make those, when I know people will really appreciate the gift. Otherwise I love to give little zippered pouches because everyone has a use for them and they are done real quick. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI have been making small felted animals to give away, they are perfect personalized gifts.
ReplyDeleteoh that’s lovely! my favourite gift to give is calendars with hand drawn dates on them and personalized, partly collaborative images. the grandmas get pictures by my artist brother for example!

ReplyDeleteI often give potholders as small gifts to commemorate holidays like Halloween and Valentine's Day.

ReplyDeleteI can't think of any really cool gifts I've given... though I gave my sister a queen sized quilt for christmas last year and that was pretty nice.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I'm a follower! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI gave my son my beloved PT Cruiser to drive since his old car was getting so much mileage on it and he needed something more reliable.I was able to do this because I had a new car to drive.
ReplyDeleteThat bundle would be very comfy in my sewing room! Love it! Hmmmmm...still thinking on the best gift given! Each one at the moment given seems to be the best! How could I ever pick just one? The best gift I am receiving right now is the glorious color we are experiencing here in the U.P. before the next color which is white!
ReplyDeleteMy go-to handmade gift is table runners. I just mailed out 5 fall themed runners the other day. When I need a bigger gift it's fun to make a big set of runners for all seasons. I usually make them reversible -- say Halloween on one side, Thanksgiving on the other.
ReplyDeleteLovely trays!
ReplyDeleteMy go to gift is little make-up/coin purses, all ladies can use one and it's not something the recipient is forced to display in their home in case our tastes differ *lol*
The best gift I was ever given was when my fiancee, now husband, surprised me and showed up on Christmas eve even when I thought his flight was canceled because of a snow storm :). My go-to gift right now that involves sewing is cosmetic bags made of patchwork, so many possibilities to customize to friend's personality and color taste and quick to throw together! anetjoy@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteOh, your nesting trays are lovely! If we're talking handmade, I think the pair of socks I knitted for my sister was the best gift. Socks take forever to knit, so I wouldn't knit them for just anyone!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure the best gift I've ever given but I think the handmade gifts are the best - I think the best was a crocheted scarf that I gifted a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower!! (amandafech@yahoo.com)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to make several gifts this year (it will be a first!). Not sure of a favorite, love the trays.
ReplyDeleteMy go-to quick little gift for friends tends to be patchwork zipper pouches. Coasters are always good too, depending on the person! Thanks for the opportunity to win! Love the trays!
ReplyDeleteMy go-to quick small gift is a zipper pouch or a journal cover. My daughters friends have all recieved a small messenger bag for birthdays this year ad they are well loved!

ReplyDeleteI love giving quilts!
ReplyDeleteProbably some of the best gifts I give every year is either a quilt or one of my cross stitch pictures. I have given alot away over the years. marlaruthnelson@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteLast CHristmas, I knitted a bunch of scarves and put them all in a basket. The basket was then passed around at a family gathering and everyone got to choose one that they liked. I might do the same thing this year with key fobs and wallets/pouches :-) Thanks for the great chance to win and the wonderful tutorial!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the best gift I've given, but the best I've received is tickets to The Lion King when it first came out on Broadway. And The Cosby Show box set. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe best gift I've ever given, I think, will be a quilt I made for my parents anniversary as a surprise.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually in the market for a nice small handmade gift to give to neighbors and such this year. I will now peruse the comments.

ReplyDeleteFirst ~ I love these fabrics and have been hoping to get some myself soon. Great project.
Thanks for the great tutorial
And then, the best gift I've given was not anything I made. It was for my husband on our first Christmas just before we got married. I got the most beautiful Black Hills Gold men's ring for him but had the jeweler add diamonds into some of the lower areas in between the leaves in the ring. It turned out awesome and he loved it.
I am already a follower of your blog also.

I make baskets those are usually my go to gift for someone. But it's funny last year for Christmas I made a dozen of those no sew fleece blankets for my nieces and nephews. Really it was to justify buying it during Black Friday. The kids love them. They range in age from 1-19 and they all still sleep with them. Probably the best presents I've ever given. :)
ReplyDeleteI like to give a handmade bag as a gift. I have a few go-to patterns for totes that make great gifts.

ReplyDeleteBest gift was a baby quilt for one of my daughter's friends.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have given my people many homemade things like quilts and pillows; but the gift that has gotten the best response is the Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls. People beg for them! I'm okay with that. LOL!
ReplyDeleteProbably would be any of the handmade things...usually quilts or pillows. They have all been well received and loved.
ReplyDeleteThe best gifts are personalized or handmade gifts. We tend to do gifts that contain pictures of our children and our family loves them.
ReplyDeleteThe best gift I've ever given was a handmade scrapbook of my dad's annual trout fishing trips in the Eastern High Sierras to him for one of his birthdays. He absolutely loved it and keeps it on his nightstand.
ReplyDeleteThe best gifts I have ever received have always been handmade ones. I love the travel sewing kit in the Zakka book with the little matching pincushion and have made quite a few to give away to friends and family, usually with a reel of cotton, some needles and a few bits and pieces. I have found the people that love receiving these the most, are those that don't sew much at all, because they found it so handy to pull out just to fix up the odd button that falls off :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a forever follower!
ReplyDeleteThis seems so small but really made lots of my women relatives and friends happy, the little sewn tissue holders. I gave them last year around the holidays and they all loved them! I had made about 30 different omes and they got to choose what they wanted.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this fabric collection!
ReplyDeleteI just recently found your blog via pinterest and LOVE all your beautiful quilts!

ReplyDeleteEvery year I make something different to use for gifts. I have made quilted purse organizers, table runners and earrings. Last year it was crocheted ripple scarves and this year it is key chains made from wine corks with strings of beads. Thankfully my family enjoys handmade gifts!
ReplyDeleteSeveral Christmases ago, I gave my parents a log cabin quilt for their bed. I worked for 4 months to complete it and it was absolutely worth every moment just to see the joy they continue to get from sleeping under a blanket of love. Be especially blessed, Kathy
ReplyDeleteTwo years ago I made mug rugs for everyone. Last year I made hot pads. This year I want to make small stocking ornaments. Thanks for the giveaway.

Nice boxes, and I love Center City! My go-to gift is Elizabeth Hartman Perfect Zip Bags. I can whip one up in about fifteen minutes and there are so many ways to customize them, from colors to embellishments (I like embroidering initials on the inside). Perfect!
ReplyDeleteWe just gave my MIL a t-shirt quilt. It was made from 25 years of memorial softball tourney tees, and it came out really cool. But I also like to make small gifts, like hand knit washcloths and quilted notebooks.
ReplyDeleteI got married in early spring and gave my husband a baby girl for his first christmas, actually she didn't arrive until 26th december but that is close enough. This year I have made lots of needlecases and pincushions as small gifts. Thanks for the giveaway.
