25 Log Cabin Quilting.

5.06.2014

Creativebug has been putting out some amazing month-long classes lately!  I enjoyed Lisa Congdon's Line Drawing class so much, I'm still practicing.  Last month's class was Pattern Drafting with Cal Patch, and while I haven't made it through all the classes yet, I did take the first one and learned so much!  This month's class is going to be great too!  It's Log Cabin Quilting with Susan Beal, a subject I'm betting most of you are interested in. :)  I met Susan last year at QuiltCon, and she is so talented, sweet, and easy to talk to.  We had a lot of fun chatting during our block printing class with Lotta!
Susan let me stitch up the Week 1 project for her Log Cabin Quilting class early, since I'll be traveling a bunch during the next few weeks!  I made a block for her first project, the log cabin pillow, and I am definitely looking forward to getting home to finish it!  The sewing here was super simple, and I think it took me longer to decide on what fabrics to use than it did to sew it all together! :)

Turns out Lotta's Mormor collection plays pretty well with Leah Duncan's Meadow!  These are not really my usual colors but I really like them together.

Log Cabin Quilting starts today, May 6th, and a new class is released each week for four weeks!  Make sure to check out the trailer for Log Cabin Quilting here, read more about the class on Susan's blog here, and I really recommend subscribing to Creativebug and taking the class!  These are affiliate links, but this is truly my honest opinion (and I pay for my own monthly subscription!).  I have taken several classes and have never been disappointed, they are really all great!

Creativebug is giving away a 3 month subscription to one of my readers!  Simply leave a comment on this post, telling me your favorite Creativebug class you've taken, or if you've never taken one, what types of classes you'd like to see!  I will choose a winner on Friday, May 9th.

Update:  This giveaway is now closed.  Congrats to our winner, Ang-e!

  19. I would be thrilled to win this prize, I really would. The log cabin class really appeals to me - as a new quilter I've attempted a few log cabin blocks but I don't really know the history of them or understand how to make them look good, as in balanced but interesting compositions that lead your eye around them. I think there is a lot more to great log cabin blocks than might appear, and I'm really keen to understand them better.

  22. Because I am an avid gardener and home canner, as well as quilter, weaver, embroiderer, jewelry maker.... it was horrible to come up with a short list! But the Holiday Preserving peaked my interest. And the upholstered headboard. It is always fun to learn a new technique. You can never say you know everything about anything. Thanks for shariang!
