14 a finished quilt.

9.04.2014

I haven't done much sewing this summer, but I did finally finish this quilt for my sister last month. It was her birthday present last year, but thankfully she has been patient with me! I have no idea why it took me so long, the piecing was simple and the quilting was fast too. It just kept getting pushed down on the list of projects to finish.
This quilt is very similar to the Candy Coated Quilt in Sunday Morning Quilts, if you're looking for a pattern!  Just a simple stacked coin quilt, but I sewed some of the strips together a little bit wonky on purpose.
I am really happy with the colors in this quilt, teal, orange, purple, black and white all go together so nicely.  Lots of favorite fabrics in this quilt too!

I quilted it with straight lines through the center of each column, and then zig zags across the width of the quilt to form a herringbone pattern.  I used mint colored Aurifil thread from Jeni's Favorite Things thread box, fun to break away from the neutrals sometimes!

The backing is from Erin McMorris' Moxie collection, which is also used throughout the front of the quilt.  I love modern graphic florals like this one!
I finished the quilt just in time for Gaby to bring it to college with her.  I think she liked it :)
