14 herringbone quilt progress.

5.24.2011

Looking for my Sew, Mama, Sew, Giveaway post?  Enter here!

The herringbone quilt top has been sewn up, I pieced together a back, and it's basted and ready for me to start quilting!  It is kind of a crazy quilt but I like it more and more every time I look at it.
I notice something new in it every time I walk by.  Kind of like an I-Spy quilt of sorts?
Now, to figure out how to quilt it.  I'm thinking some random diagonal lines (like I just did on this pillow) would look pretty cool.  Any other ideas you want to share?
In other news...you can kind of see the new color of my sewing room in these pictures!  The room is still a work in progress but I will try to share some true "after" shots next week sometime.

  1. What a lovely quilt! I love all the colours together - I'm having a bit of a colour mad phase at the moment myself!

  4. Love it! The colors are so festive. I'm having trouble finding the right color(s) duvet for our baby's soon-to-be big-girl bed, and your projects have totally given me the inspiration to try making a quilt. Not sure I'll actually attempt, as I'm kind of a rotten sewer, but at least you've made me feel like I maybe could!

  5. Wow - I absolutely love this quilt. It is going in my 'inspiration' folder for future reference. I love how bold your color choices are. How many different fabrics would you say you have in here?

  6. I love this it looks amazing! I like the horizontal lines but I think vertical lines would look really good as well. Visually they might compete less with the herringbone.

  10. Really beautiful colors!

I tried to post this on another post earlier, but I don't think it went through: I'm so glad I found your blog. I usually skip all quilting sites because I just find them too flowery/busy for my taste, but your stuff is so modern looking! Now I need to learn to quilt - I'm going to start with your circle quilt!
